Brecon to Cardiff, Wales, UK
The Brecon to Cardiff event on 16 February 2025 includes the Classic, a 70km Ultra and the Xtreme, a 47 mile mountain running version of the classic race.
The Classic race on a point to point route that winds its way from Brecon to Cardiff, following the Taff Trail. The race starts in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park with its dramatic mountain landscapes, passing crashing waterfalls and crystal clear reservoirs. As you head further south you will encounter a different landscape with reminders of Wales’s industrial heritage.
This route is marked with a combination of running arrows, red and white marking tape and flags at each major junction. It mainly follows the Taff Trail cycle path, and it is possible to navigate the route completely using the in situated Taff Trail signs, but extra signage is added to make it very easy to follow.
The Xtreme is a tough winter ultra marathon covering 75km and 11 major peaks between Brecon and Cardiff. It is only marked where the course converges with the classic route, otherwise it is unmarked. This race only suitable for those with excellent winter mountain running skills, experience and fitness.
This is a self-navigation event. Entrants are provided with a marked map and detailed route explanations. There will be a number of manned checkpoints with refreshments provided.
