The Bristol Backyard Ultra starting on 1 May 2027 is set within the historic parkland and woodland trails of Blaise Castle Estate in Bristol.

This ultramarathon event has competitors consecutively run a 6.71km / 4.17 mile course in less than one hour, every hour. When each lap is completed, the remaining time within the hour is used to recover and replenish for the next hour's race. The race finishes when one person completes one more lap than anyone else. Every other participant, regardless of the distance they cover, is recorded as a DNF.

The trail course is gritty, hilly, rocky and rooty, with woodland trails, open parkland and constantly changing terrain. It is fully marked and easy to follow, with no navigation required.

The event is organised by Gravel & Grit Events and is designed to be inclusive, community-focused, and welcoming to runners of all abilities.
