The Grizzly & Cub Races
Sunday, 8 March 2026
Seaton, Devon, UK
The Grizzly is an ~ 20 mile multi-terrain running race with more than 3,000 ascent on 8 March 2026, set in Devon's Axe Valley.
Starting from Seaton Esplanade, this is a very tough course with big hills, some steep and/or slippery. It uses sections of the South West Coast path which are close to sheer drops in places. The terrain includes sections of pebble beach; two energy-sapping bogs, where runners are often up to their waists in water and mud; and the infamous “Stairway to Heaven”, a steep path up the side of a cliff.
The event also includes the Cub, a shorter and less challenging ~ 9 mile run. There are also Junior events held the previous day as part of the Grizfest weekend.
This is a cup-free event - bring your own cup/water bottle for refilling at aid stations during the race.
This popular annual race is organised by Axe Valley Runners. Entry is by Ballot.
