Black Beacon Mountain Races
Friday, 31 October 2025 to Sunday, 2 November 2025
Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, Wales, UK
The Black Beacon Mountain Races from 31 October to 2 November 2025 includes 4 long distance trail races crossing the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park.
Distances include a 100 miles, 50 miles, 50km plus a 21 mile option.
The 100 mile is a unique out and back traverse of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. Starting on Friday evening from the Northern tip of the National Park at the market town of Hay-on-Wye, the course takes runners to the turnaround at Pontneddfechen at the Southern tip, where they retrace their steps back to the start.
The other distances are point to point courses with the 50 miles from Pontneddfechan to Hay-on-Wye; the 50km from Pontneddfechen to Llangynidir and the 21 miles trail race from Llangynidir to Hay-on-Wye.
This is a self-navigation event on challenging mountain routes. For competent navigators, the route is very simple to follow and typically follows obvious lines, mountain trails and footpaths. Entrants are provided with a marked map and detailed route explanations. There will be a number of manned checkpoints with refreshments provided.
