Cape Wrath Ultra
Sunday, 17 May 2026 to Sunday, 24 May 2026
Fort William to Cape Wrath, UK
The Cape Wrath Ultra from 17 to 24 May 2026 is a 400km 8-day ultra running expedition through the Scottish Highlands.
The Cape Wrath Trail is considered to be the toughest long distance backpacking trail in the UK. It crosses rugged landscapes and winds through genuine wilderness spending significant time away from civilisation. The Cape Wrath Ultra takes a similar route to the Cape Wrath Trail, but tailored for runners. Day 1 starts at Fort William and day 8 concludes at Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point in the UK.
As well as the full expedition, there is the Cape Wrath Explorer in which participants can choose to do part of the route each day (typically either the first half or the second half) and the Cape Wrath 100 which follows the first 3 days of the Ultra route from Fort William - Achnashellach, covering 100-miles (162km) and 4,700m of elevation.
