The High Peak 40 Challenge on 20 September 2025 is an Ultra Marathon run around the Peak District, starting and ending in beautiful Buxton.

The 40.5 mile loop course takes in some of the best trails, paths and roads around the area.

The route takes runners through Goyt Valley, Eccles Pike, Mam Tor, Cave Dale, Tideswell, Monsal Trail, and not one but two Deep Dales. There is approximately 5800 ft elevation gain and the terrain split is 65% trail / 35% road.

Registration and finish line is at Buxton Community School. The start line is on Broad Walk in Buxton’s Pavillion Gardens.
