The Machlud Sunset Trail Race on 12 September 2026 is an off-road, Half Marathon that skirts the beautiful Clwydian Hills in North Wales.

The 13.1 mile (21.1km) route meanders above the Vale of Clwyd before runners start to climb up onto the Offa’s Dyke footpath which brings them finally to the summit of Moel Famau.

The route includes 2500ft/750m of ascent and 95% of the course is run on good quality tracks and paths with some small quiet tarmac sections at the start and end of the race. It is waymarked, and the mandatory kit includes a headtorch to get off the hills safely with the last section marked with reflective arrows.

CaniCross runners are welcome (dogs must be on lead throughout).

This event is organised by the Ysgol y Foel PTA, and raises funds for the Ysgol y Foel - Primary School in Cilcain.
