Waterhead to Brockhole, Windermere, UK

Follow event Run/Walk Road/Path/Park

The Windermere Marathon on 14 June 2026 is one of the most scenic road marathons in the UK, showcasing the natural beauty of the Lake District.

The stunning route heads anticlockwise around Lake Windermere, passing High Wray, Newby Bridge and Bowness-on-Windermere. Over half of the 26.2 mile route will be run on partially traffic-free roads, or roads with a dedicated running lane. The course is hilly in parts with an elevation of approximately +600m.

This is an iconic and beautiful course, slightly modified from previous events with a new start and finish location.

The event is now organised and delivered by The Great Run Company.
